2024 EOFY Appeal

Help us transform the lives of 400 struggling families

Currently around 1 million people in New South Wales are living in poverty.

Those most at risk of living in poverty are single parent families, families living with a mental health diagnoses or disability and those that identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander.

At Dandelion we believe every family deserves the chance to thrive. Our mission is to provide disadvantaged families with the necessary nursery items essential to the safety, well-being and development of their children.

We currently have over 243 families on our waitlist needing essential items before the end of June with plenty more to come. Due to the increase in those struggling financially across Sydney and NSW, Dandelion saw a 30% increase in referrals last year and this year has seen another 14% increase in requests for support. This year we have already helped over 1000 families and over 2000 children.

Dandelion has also been impacted by increases in rent, cost of stock and services and with the current cost of living, we are concerned that we won’t be able to continue to assist the increasing numbers of families we are receiving requests for.

We can’t meet these requests alone. We need your support. Together we can create lasting change and uplift the lives of disadvantaged families in NSW.

Every donation over $2 is tax deductible. For every dollar donated up to $100,000 before June 30th, Big Sister Foundation will match your generous donation dollar for dollar, converting $100,000 into $200,000. This amount enables us to continue to support more than 800 families each year.

No contribution is too small, and every donation makes a difference. Whether you can donate $10, $50 or even more, your gift will go a long way in transforming lives and building stronger communities.

Help Families Like Amanda’s

Amanda* has been homeless for several years and has alternated between sleeping rough and couch surfing. Amanda has experienced significant trauma throughout her life which has resulted in mental health issues. Earlier in the year she had a stillborn baby while rough sleeping and this has caused her to be very anxious and stressed abut the upcoming birth of her baby. She doesn’t have any family or friends to support her and feels very alone and isolated.

Dandelion provided a lifeline to Amanda and let her know her community cared. We gifted her a cot, pram, car seat, baby clothes, toys, linen, baby bath, baby carrier, nappy bag and bouncer, which not only removed her stress around purchasing items for her baby but also made her realise that she didn’t have to do things alone.

Please give generously before 30 June so Dandelion can continue to help families like Amanda’s and give the gift of hope to others on our waitlist.
